Hello.

Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Zach Gilbert. I am currently Director of Marketing, Design, and Expo for a biologics company in the veterinary pharmaceutical world located in Ames, IA.

Me, in a nutshell. When I am not working you can find me: adventuring around with my wonderful wife Emily (you can follow along here), cycling, playing cards on Thursdays with the guys, film photography, book club, fly fishing, camping, working out, cooking, reading about fitness and nutrition, or helping out at my local church.

Below are my thoughts on leadership.

I call my leadership style “servant leadership”. This idea involves leading by example AND alongside the team. If you were to read nothing else but this point, I would be pleased! I treat this idea with the utmost respect. I approach life with a “love your neighbor as yourself” attitude. This means I must take care of myself (mentally, physically, emotionally), and then maybe, I can be responsible for my wife. Once we’re doing well, maybe I can help my neighbor, and if my neighbor, then I can maybe find a way to help my community. I believe people may only be convinced in two ways, either 1) by example, or 2) by a reasonable discourse. The only downside is these both take time! This ideology is something I try and practice everyday. This is also my approach to leading a team or interacting in the workplace.
